Was Patrick Mahomes In Flow?

Was Patrick Mahomes in a state of flow for the Super Bowl?

The concept that "real recognize real" applies as much to flow states as anything else.

I've never played football but the short plays resemble the performances required in my sport of strongman so I feel like the characteristics and flow triggers are quite similar between these two sports.

When it comes to football and flow, one of the best examples that I can recall was fourth quarter Tom Brady standing tall in the pocket to launch one bullet pass after another and come back against the Eagles in 2017.

That type of performance embodies flow because there are no higher stakes in football than being behind in the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl. That is when the ability to get into flow will dictate success more than anything else, if the opportunity presents itself.

We saw a Brady-esque performance from Patrick Mahomes in the fourth quarter of Super Bowl 54 as he brought his team back from a 10-point deficit for the win.

Having come from a very young quarterback makes it all the more impressive.

Mahomes has found his flow in the final minutes of a number of games this season which does lend him some experience in handling this type of pressure but clearly his psychology is also rock-solid.

Why is this important to the rest of us who aren't competing at such a high level?

It's inspirational, certainly, and watching someone perform in their flow at the highest level brings with it a sense of awe.

Some of that rubs off on the rest of us.

It makes us believe that the impossible is possible. It helps to guide the way to finding our own flow.
